SSI Try Dive (Introduction Dives)
Half day excursion with a try-out dive
Have you ever been fascinated watching documentaries of the colourful underwater world?
Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater?
If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, a Try Dive offers the ideal opportunity to dive between the colourful fish in Sicily.
At Zingaro Diving Center, we do understand that your first introduction to the underwater world has to be an unforgettable experience.
We ‘ll let you enjoy a lovely day on our boat. You will be individually assigned to a professional Instructor, who speaks your language. You will dive in the shallow, crystal clear waters of Sicily, under the direct and personal supervision of a professional.
A safe, exciting and unique experience!
What to expect of a full day excursion with introductory dive?
A private van will pick you up at any hotel in Castellammare del Golfo, between 07:30 am and 08:15 am. The driver will bring you safely to the dive center.
You can try on the dive equipment, that is of impeccable quality.
During the briefing you go through the main dive signs and make the necessary agreements with the instructor. Then you will make a first dive with full dive gear in the shallow, crystal and clear waters of Sicily. The professional Instructor will be in constant contact with you and will help you in all possible ways. The maximum depth is 5 meters.
After this unique experience, you can enjoy a snack break.
If you enjoyed your first dive, you can enroll for a second dive (at an extra fee) at another dive site in the afternoon. Or you can just relax and sunbathe or snorkel. If you loved the experience, why not choose to continue your diving adventure and sign up for a full diving course?
After the second dive, we ‘ll start our trip back to the marina and diving center.
At 12:30 pm our boat docks in the marina and our drivers will safely bring you back to the hotel, with some golden memories of this unique day.
Our service for a half day excursion with introductory dive includes
Hotel pickup and drop-off by a private air-conditioned vehicle
Half day trip on “Rubby”, our 7 m long, comfortable rib.
A clear and full briefing about the doings and safety procedures on the boat
A personal and professional dive instructor who assists you in your own language
An introduction dive in the morning
A snorkeling session or a second dive (optional)
Use of well-maintained dive-and snorkel gear.
Practical information:
Minimum age: 10 years old
To be specified at the time of booking: shoe size, height, and body weight
Our drivers will pick you up at your hotel between 07:30 am and 08:15 am; the exact time will be informed a day before
The boat leaves at 8.30 am (exceptionally at 9:00 am)
You can make a second introduction dive in the afternoon, at an additional fee
Return arrival in the marina between 12:30 and 13:00 pm, depending on the itinerary, dive sites and weather conditions
Transport by our drivers to your hotel

SSI Advanced Adventurer
Duration: 2 days
Maximum Depth: 30 meter
Minimum age: 10 years

Program: 5 academic sessions e-learning, 5 different adventure dives of your and your instructor’s choice

SSI Perfect Buoyancy
Duration: 1 day/2 dives

DPV Diver
The purpose of the TDI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Course is to familiarise divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of using DPV’s while technical diving.
Upon successful completion of the TDI Diver Propulsion Vehicle Specialty training, the student will be able to: demonstrate comprehension of the practical knowledge necessary for DPV diving, properly plan and safely conduct DPV dives, and implement techniques and procedures to manage and minimize DPV diving hazards. This course is ideal for technical divers looking to extend their range and take advantage of the benefits of utilising a DPV on technical dives.
The TDI DPV course covers advantages of DPV options and use, rigging, parking, dive planning, care and maintenance and problem solving procedures such as malfunction or failure, towing and gas sharing with DPVs
- Minimum age 18
- Minimum certification of Open Water Diver, or equivalent
- Provide proof of 25 logged open water dives

Full Cave Diver
This level of cave diver is the highest of the TDI cave diving series. It will teach you how to plan and execute dives in complex underground systems.
Prerequisites:
– At least 18 years of age.
– Minimum certification : Intro To cave Diver.
– Have completed at least 15 intro to cave level dives.
– Required equipment : Configuration DIR / Hogarthian double tank or Side mount.
Course length: 4 days minimum.

Intro to Cave Diver
This course is the second level of the TDI cave series. It will allow you to review the knowledge and skills acquired during the cavern diving course. It will also provide the knowledge and skills needed to explore the caves beyond areas illuminated by daylight. The successful student of INTRO TO CAVE TDI is qualified to dive underground cavities without supervision and within its prerogatives.
Prerequisites:
– At least 18 years of age.
– Minimum certification : Cavern diver.
– At least 60 logged dives.
– Required equipment : Configuration DIR / Hogarthian double tank or Side mount.
Course length : 4 days minimum.
Cavern Diver TDI + Intro To Cave Diver TDI.
Course length : 6 days minimum.

Cavern Diver Course
With the Cavern Diver course you will learn the techniques and knowledge necessary to plan and execute dives in the cavern area in the limits of your competence.
Prerequisites:
– At least 18 years of age.
– Minimum certification : Intro To Tech or Side mount Diver or equivalent.
– At least 25 logged dives.
– Required equipment: Configuration DIR / Hogarthian double tank or Sidemount.
Course length : 4 days minimum.

Advanced Sidemount Diver
The TDI Advanced Sidemount Diver Course, offers the same benefits as the TDI Sidemount Diver course but gives you the opportunity to dive with 2+ cylinders for extended dive times.
The Advanced Sidemount Diver course is a great way to get started into technical diving because the skills you learn in this course will train you to handle multiple cylinders
You can combine what you learn in the Tec Sidemount Diver course with other open-circuit tech courses that you take, or certifications you’ve already earned, to take advantage of sidemount’s cylinder configuration and handling advantages.
This course is recommended for Technical Divers that are Sidemount certified to become cave divers or Advanced Nitrox Divers that would like to do their Extended Range or Trimix 60 course on Sidemount.
Prerequisites
- Minimum of 18 years old
- Certified Sidemount diver
If you are already familiar with this configuration, it takes a normally of 2-3 days

Sidemount Diver
Recently sidemount diving is gaining popularity between recreational divers and open water tech divers as well. For recreational divers it is mainly the increased gas supply without carrying heavy twinsets, furthermore, you can transport your tanks one by one to the entry point. Also, it is possible to attach them on the surface, helping people with back problems. Buoyancy and trim are really great in the water using this setup!
One disadvantage I’ve found is the surface time… It is really not comfortable if you have to spend a long time waiting for the others. Also, task loading (you have to keep the gas level balanced in the tanks) and purchasing new equipment can be a turndown.
For technical divers using more than 2 deco stages this setup starting to get uncomfortable. (But it is entirely up to you if that is what you are used to, keep it)
Honestly, I really fell in love with sidemount diving, when I did my cave courses.
The course takes a minimum of 3 days to finish.
After gaining knowledge and experience with Sidemount configuration, you can progress to Technical Sidemount.
What are the prerequisites?
- certified Open Water (technically you could do the OW course in sidemount but I really don’t recommend it.)
- According to my experience, you will benefit more to learn it after logging at least 20 dives
- 18 years old (15 with parental consent)
